The chairman of Rajya Sabha, Jagdeep Dhankhar cautioned Raghav Chaadha, an AAP MP, who was involved in protesting as well as raising his hands while demanding a discussion regarding LokSabha security that took place on 13th Dec. The opposition MPs proposed that they suspend the day’s schedule affairs, to find a way out of the “critical matter” caused by the break-in.

But at zero hour, Dhankhar refused the notices and carried on without a hitch. Consequently, it prompted an uproar among the entire Opposition raising of slogans. To that end, Chadha raised his hand to make a point of order, resulting in the chairman’s protestation. Dhankhar told Mr.Chadha that he should not use hand gestures to raise a point of order but rather to use his mouth and not do what he was doing.

Opposition Persistence Leads to House Adjournment Amid Security Breach Demand

“”Mr. Chadha, you don’t have to do like this (hand gesture) to raise a point of order…use your tongue…don’t do it.”-Mr. Dankar

More words to describe Dhankhar reprimanding Chadha, “Mr Chadha, you don’t have to do like this (hand gesture) to raise a point of order…use your tongue…don’t do it.”. Your hands should remain still. This is your moment of learning. You are also ready to join in too. Sit quietly on your seat. This house would not take a second punishment of Chadha, suspended in August during the Monsoon session and subsequently lifted his suspension on December 4.”

At the same time, opposition MPs demanded a statement of Amit Shah union home minister in connection with a security breach, resulting in disruptive episodes during parliamentary proceedings. As a result of these protests, the Chairman of the Rajya Sabha adjourned the house till 2 pm, summoning Messers Kharge and Goyal to go in for a talk with him in his chambers.

In the afternoon, when the parliament reconvened at two o’clock, the opposition continued insisting that there be debate over the matter of security. However, Dhankhar’s efforts to restore the order were in vain; thus, the assembly had to suspend proceedings. The next meeting will take place on 18th December.
